One of the strangest things we have found at the ranch thus far was this small man made cave/shelter on the side of the Canyon in the middle of no where. Inside appears to be a small ceramic figurine of a dog or wolf with a painted red bow around its neck. How and why would it get here???
The figurine looks old, but we are a little nervous to touch it. Anyone see anything like this before???

Welcome to Tnet.

The figurine looks rather like the vintage kitsch ornament I've pictured alongside the one you found. Leave it be. It is, as said, likely the grave of someone's faithful companion.

The rocks appear to be rather freshly stacked, (i gather this by comparing their weathering to the surrounding rocks) so it can't be too old, i wouldn't be afraid to touch it.

It might be worth the risk...

Read of things called , I forget....
Not alters?
Along immigration trails.

A dog seems out of place for a statue choice. But would suit a canine grave I suppose... Or just someone who had a dog figurine.

Neat find. Ya , I'd leave it alone too.
