With the nice weather we have been blessed with here, I thought I would get out today and check on some construction spots that I have been watching lately. The first two places had not changed since the last visit so I kept moving on. I finally came to this spot:

This area is going to be a new subdivision to open sometime in the summer 2007. The neighborhood is being built in the area of a heavily contested ferry crossing during the Civil War. The tree line off in the distance is the river bank and the crossing is pretty much in line with the area from where the picture was taken. This was one of only very few river crossings for many miles and was under Confederate and Union control several different times. The last time I was here this was pretty much a dense forest of briars and underbrush, but now has been cleared.
Here are the relics I was able to recover this afternoon before it got dark:

Tommorrow is supposed to be pretty much like today, upper 70's and clear, so I am pretty sure what I will be doing tommorrow!! ;) ;D ;D

Those are great finds. I would really hit that area hard and heavy right up till the time they build and then I would make sure when they were digging foundations I was hitting it every night after they quit for the day!Cant wait to see what else you pull out of there!

great hunting and research. You should have a solid year or two to hunt that place. I would make sure you hit the road areas first, they will be the first areas under concrete. After its all said and done if may provide you some better access to the areas right down near the river, hopefully they wont build right in the primary flood plain...HH

Couldn't see your finds but that should be a fantastic spot! Ferry crossings are always hot. Good job researching!
