Love the fossils Fossis :) If I had that available near me > I would be there everyday ;)

Yeah Carolina, it is a great spot, I try to go out almost every week if the weather permits, (it's my time to unwind). :P
Usually I'me the only one looking for Fossil's, a few ride four wheelers around on the dumps, or play in the mud at the base of the hills.

love the scenery there ...makes me wish i lived there

It is 'Scenic' country, we have National Forest all over this area, all except the small farms & ranches in the river valleys.

Hi Fossis!

Glad to see you are getting out & collecting nice specimens. Do you know the age of the fossils at your site and what is the largest piece of petrified wood that you you have found? Thanks!

Tom

Tom

The age of these fossils is (Pennsylvanian, 250-300 Million), or 6,000-10,000 years Biblical version.
The largest piece of 'wood' I ever found was about the size of a car tire, but I have seen some as large as a 'big truck tire'.

Those are beautiful. I really like the ones that look like ostrich skin.

Thanks, they are (stigmaria root), they are the most common of the 'woods' in this area, they can weather out of mountains, or be dug up from deep in the mines, the color is dependant on the type of material they are found in.
