your bug is a Jerusalem cricket I think. Ran over one with my Ranger once and then stabbed it with a hunting knife to put it down and it tried to bite the blade. It was about an inch and a half long. Nasty looking things.

Yup-Happened to me awhile back... Looked down at my gloved hand and had tons of those crawling all over!
So it looks like your in 70's+ era ground. If people were there then, got to be nearby areas with older coins, and maybe a little less trash. (hopefully) Hang tuff! So many sites have that "key" to unlocking the oldies. Double check your research and keep narrowing down the older spots.
Nice going!

<turf_aholic> thanks, yeah the story i was told is that this old man owned the land or had a claim on the land of harford springs park, and that he mined gold outta the land as long as he could. Then before he sold the land as a state park, he blew most of the entrances to the mines so no one could get any gold that was left....probably just a tale but there are some shafts left....

<worldtalker> thanks for the advice, yeah im gonna have to talk to my neighbor hes lived there for ever
