Hi there!
We had a great day (and fun day) hunting in Wisconsin today! Me and my girlfriend both have AT Pros, mine is fitted with a 5x8 coil which I like. Found my oldest coin today, an 1890 Indian Penny in great shape. Some other great finds, including this add button my girlfriend found....any ideas???

On a sad note, I dug a deep tiny signal and found a small gold colored cube less than 1/3 inch long, but it had ornate carvings and a tiny loop on top (I assume to wear as a necklace). I think it was gold. These finds were near an old home site that has produced well last year. But, after we got home to go through and clean up all our finds I noticed the little gold cube was missing and we had no luck finding it. I learned a lesson to always put more valuable things in a separate smaller ziplock or our tiny fishing lure boxes padded with foam. I mistakenly put it into the large ziplock with all the other finds. :(

Oh well, we had a great time and found some interesting things! Here are the pics.

Happy hunting and thanks for any help on the button!

:) :) :)

It was a surface find! :) lol

Nice. For a second, I thought you mistakenly added the picture since you didn't mention it in your initial post. :tongue3:

Besides that, the IH is in awesome shape. Sorry to hear about the missing gold. Wish I could help with the button but I've never seen anything like it.

Since you asked for ID... it is what button collectors call a "Fashion" button, made for use on fancy civilian clothing. The version you found, having an ornate stamped-sheetbrass front and sheetiron back, can date anywhere from the 1830s through today. However, yours looks to be from the second half of the 1800s through early-1900s.

Thanks for the information! Much appreciated....I know a lot about things, but not much at all about buttons! :)
