Today was a sloppy, muddy mess! The once frozen ground was saturated from the melting snow and the rain we had last night and this morning. A lot of the "sweet spots" that we have discovered are quickly drying up, but still managed to pull out another spur. Almost chopped right down on it with the shovel. Dug the hole and once it was opened it gave off a really crappy iron signal. I pushed down on the dirt with the shovel and the spur poked up through the dirt. She's a little bent, but this is my 4th full spur from this farm, 2 from this little field. Also dug a burnside in really bad shape, was in the hole with a piece of iron. Also found a colt pistol bullet in another field and then an early colonial button in, yet again, another field. Just waiting to discover that next honey hole on this farm. Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Your detector didn't mess up in the rain? Awesome spur number 4, I'm still hunting for number one.

I found a colt pistol bullet too yesterday, but mine had a little cavity in the back? Is that still a colt pistol bullet or another type?

I think it's just another variety. I've dug a few of those with the small cavity.

Great spur Matt!! The biggest problem with the F75 rain cover for the display is that it fogs during cool weather and you can't see the numbers. Did you experience that? WTG, Q.

It was found among a bunch of Civil War bullets, buttons and other CW era stuff. My best guess is the spurs are the same time frame as the CW stuff.

I have experienced that, yes. That was with the rain cover that it comes with. It has ripped and I threw it out a while ago. I used just a zip lock baggy today and it didn't fog up any. I only checked the screen a few times anyway. I was digging tones and not really looking at numbers. HH

Great finds Matt. I'm sure you'll be over that honey hole soon enough.

Matt - that site your hunting should be renamed spur city. I don't remember seeing that many coming from one small spot. Nice early button you found there too.

Congrats on another spur Matt. Really unusual to see so many complete ones dug by one person in such a short time. Someone who knows what they're doing can straighten that spur. Go see Harry Ridgeway, he can probably point you to someone local who could do it.

Didn't realize it was so unusual to find a complete spur. Interesting. The first one I found was perfect and not bent at all, the other 3 have been bent. I have found a few parts of spurs on other properties though. Maybe it's just something about this property? lol I think a buddy of mine dug a complete one as well from this farm.
