Today's relic hunt.... button, bullets, knife, buckle, coins and misc.
Met up today with Mike (4-H), Guy (Tnrelicman), Gabe and Larry to hunt a piece of private property where the landowner has found lots of bullets, buttons, breastplate, coins, reales and many other nice finds. We started hunting in a cow pasture next to a very old house. Right away I found a nice brass piece I have not identified yet. I hunted around the pasture some more and found a nice flat button. Then I went to the other side of the house and found a 1949 nickel. Then I went to the front of the house and found a 1928 buffalo nickel and some decorative piece. Also found a piece that looks like a trunk latch. It is metal and has leather on the back side. Then the landowner came out to see how we were doing. She told us that a log cabin used to be next to the house. It was occupied by soldiers in the war and they camped all around the area. She told us about some of her finds. Then told us that if we cross the fence and go into the woods that was where she has found some of her bullets and her reales. So off we went into the woods and right away Guy found a bullet and then I found the pocket knife. I found a small pistol bullet (I think) and what looks like a carved bullet. Also found three horseshoes. After a while it was getting late so I went back to the old house and found what I thought was a bottle cap but later found it to be a shaker lid. Last find was a small buckle. It was very cold but we all had a good time and can't wait to go back again.
