Went out for a quick hunt and found this token/coin in Donna, TX. It's obviously from Kirtland AFB but I cant find any info on it online. Anyone know what these were used for? Says N.C.O Dining room Kirtland AFB and has the number 48 on the back side. 20210222_052330.jpg

It makes sense. Matches the date from the remaining piece of sidewalk and most of the coins I found were from the 40's.

Display Token Records - All States
Got nada from this site
But it might be a case where you should send a image and have it put on, as there are no Kirkland AFB on the site. Lots of other bases have tokens.
Nice recovery, congrats

All I could find was Kirtland used to Have Parades all the time and Coin Days
However from What I Garnered these Coin Days were actual challenge coins.

That's a cool find.

Kirtland was renamed Kirtland AFB in 1948. Prior to that it was Kirtland Army Air Field.

Do a Google image search on "NCO mess tokens". You'll see other examples. I've never heard of these. Learned something today!

These predated our Club Cards, early on when club cards came about it was just a generic plastic card with your account card and name on it. Then we came into the present day when our club cards were actual credit cards.

So early on as stated they had club chits, on payday you went and paid off your tab, and a few days later you started your tab back up.......

I at first thought perhaps a "coat check" type of thing, remembering my wife, who grew up in the Air Force, as a young teenager worked for awhile as a "Hat/Coat check girl" at the officers club, somewhere, Labrador, Japan, somewhere..
