Went out for a bit today when I got some free time and found this token. It's in bad shape and I believe it's made out of aluminum it looks like it

might have been in a burn pit. That would explain the shape it's in. Can't find a dang thing about it so far on Google going to get the old township books out tonight to see if it was a store in my area. Anyway if anyone has seen or heard of this company or store let me know. It says good for 5 cents in trade and I think E.W. Carter that's all I can make out. Found some wheats and some clad too was only out for 45 mins. Thanks for looking.

Did you find it anywhere near Springfield? There was an Earl W. Carter who was a bartender in 1900 & 1901, but by 1903 he was working in partnership with his father in a livery business. He may have had his own bar for a short period but I haven't found that for certain. Is the reverse blank?

yea the reverse is blank found near sycamore oh which is south of tiffin and north of upper sandusky. I can't find anything yet in sycamore for a business. The last token I found in a field was traced back to the field I found it in. It was a aukerman dry goods. He was first owner of the land when the us patent was issued. It was rite on border with the wyandot Indian reservation. This new token was found 3 miles away and not having any luck at all. I'll look into what you have found thanks.

Found some info on token. Here is a pic of a store add from 1912. It was a pool hall/restaurant and sold cigars located in the town closest to where I live. Going to donate it to historical society. image-386933983.jpg

Good find - what town? And where was the ad? Do keep the exact reference info with the token. And, how about posting pics to TokenCatalog.com with the attribution info for the good of the hobby?

Here some pics after cleaned up a bit. Don't want to ruin it because as of rite now it's the only example. Haven't found anyone around here with one and historical society hasn't seen one either. image-895570435.jpg

Token was donated to the local historical society along with the ad. Hope to find more history from the area. Hope they enjoy it.
