If I ever run into Tom Waits, I'll punch him in the jaw for stealing my vocal style, just like Joe Cocker punched me :laughing9:

I do like the following songs, in no particular order :tongue3:

1- Mr Seigal
2- X-Mas card from a Hooker in Minneapolis
3- Ol' 55

Note: Rod Stewart was thinking about punching him out, but he did cover Tom Waits Downtown Train and made it a hit : Same holds true for the Boss and "Jersey Girl" :tongue3:

I never did like Joe Cocker, and I have to admit, Tom's voice takes some getting used to, but he is such an entertainer in videos, I think a live show would be good! Thanks for posting the ones you like, I'll check them out. :icon_thumleft:

Jeff, Mr Seigal is real bluesy.. I'm surprised that you don't like Cocker, he has some great blues songs that he covers.

To be fair, I will Joe another chance. It's not so much about Tom's voice, but the lyrics and persona! Although it is the voice that made me not listen to Joe....I'll listen again....

Thanks jeff...I've always liked 'feelin' alright' and now Everybody hurts' is one of my new favorites! I would like the first one better without all the music and backup singers, but I'm open minded....

I do agree Backup singers are Lame.

Does anyone go out there Wanting a Career as a Backup singer,
or are they all Wannabe singers, that got thrown
in because of who they slept with ? :tongue3:

I met Waits while working at a lady's house/office; he was one of several judges for a song writing contest she was involved in. He struck me as someone who looks at the world sideways and he had a brain that never shut off.
