Yes, those are tombac buttons. Their heyday was about 1750-1790. After that, manufacturing styles changed and they went out of fashion. I wouldn't be surprised to start finding mid to late 18th century items on the site. We never find these on exclusive Civil War sites. By then, the brass buttons with backmarks were the style.

Definitely!

They are more brittle that some of the newer buttons, I find quite a few that are broken similar to yours. Good indication you are at an old site.
