A sawzall is good for helping to reduce the size of large items. An angle grinder is a must (with thin metal cutting blades). I purchased a cheap set of tools with wrenches, sockets, etc that I have pretty much worn out. Very much needed for taking apart washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc. As far as stripping wires, I just use a box cutter. If you are real serious about scrapping, visit this website, you can get some awesome information. Just a word of caution though, search the site first to see if a question you have has already been asked. Also, for your first post, there is an introduce yourself sub forum, I would put your first post there.

After 4 years in a scrap yard, I still prefer a regular old box cutter/knife for stripping wire.
