don't apologize, thanks for looking. Trying to figure this stuff out. Hammerstones and objects that have pecking seem to have me stumped (as to what is and what isn't). Might give up on the tools and just look for flint.

Not rocks.. Valley stones.
Seriously though.. obscure things like that can sometimes be associated with a site..
But first you have to have other artifacts in close proximity to even begin to give them more thought... especially if your eyes aren't already trained to see man made work and use wear.
I suggest looking for flint or pottery to first affirm your in an area with some number of artifacts.
Otherwise you will wind up spending your time inefficiently looking at plain old rocks.
If your not finding flint..then just move on until you find a site that produces.
Then you can look a bit more closely at things.
