Hi folks,
I come across this fly fishing one of my favorite Brown Trout Streams here in Central Alberta. It was laying ontop of a gravel bed in a corner. It has a bit of weight to it and it is solidified (rock). I thought I came across a duck beak and was at first a little grossed out that I picked it up and was about to toss it before I realized it was no longer organic and is hard as a rock. Any thoughts?
Cheers!
Dale

Thank you 2screwed! People like you on these forums make life easier for us all. Its nice to know that I did not have a geofact for once lol! After comparing the tooth with the ones on the link you posted and research directed from there on the web and an email with pictures I sent to a local dino museum, it was confirmed that it did in fact come from the three toed horse.

For Pete's sake! 'Perico' had it right. That tooth doesn't at all resemble a horse tooth. It is bovid lower cheek tooth, almost certainly an unerupted bison tooth. The isolated stylid tells the story.
