I detect mainly on dry sand, and have learned to look for trash left by beach goers.

Things like cans, plastic drink boxes, fast food bags.

I hate to see this kind of trash on the beach, but it usually means a group of people have been on that spot, probably for a while, and that occasionally means some interesting targets.

Yesterday, I found a pile of drink boxes, beer cans, and food left on Nokomis beach, so I carefully detected the area - especially around the edges left by the beach blanket depression.

Found a lot of bottle caps and trash. But then up popped a ring!

And two feet away, found a ladies watch!

Also found a kids ID bracelet and a few toys - all within the trash circle.

Everything was about 4 inches down in the sand.

The watch is base metal, but it was and still is ticking.

The ring has engravings on it, but can't read them.

Don't think the ring is worth much, but the thrill is in the finding.

Bill

Nice Job Bill I have to agree with MT I just cant bring myself around to hunt the dry I can't stand it however I know lots of great finds are made there.

I've got two water detectors - an excalibur ii and a whites beachhunter ID - and live within 100 yards of the beach. But I haven't spent a total of more than an hour in the water with the detectors.

But when the water warms up, I plan to get a little wet and see what I can find

I would stick with the dry there is nothing in the water anyway except fish ;D ;D ;D

Congrats on the ring and watch!!! I'll be joining the florida hunters on Easter sunday. Anyone who wants to hunt the week following Easter, in the Bradenton area, give me a shout.

Actually, there's not much ever up in the sand either. Most people should probably stick to the parking lots . . .
