Back in the early 70s we called surface finds "insult finds" like an "insult dime" or "insult earring". Felt it was an insult to find things we didn't need a detector to find when we were hunting with machines that cost a week's pay. Still do call them that.

Hi Jeff, it's a very thin silver 5 cent piece from Canada called a "fish scale" or "fishy".
