What a fun idea. Of course you are starting these children down the path to metal detecting addiction, but they sure seem to be having fun with it. Hope you don't have to do too much lawn repair..

There was no lawn damage. The cuts from hiding the eggs were barely visible so re-opening them was easy and patching was nothing. Also there is no real lawn, just a cut mixture of weeds. The next day the grand kids were relentless on metal detecting again, so we found a nail, and a chunk of metal. They still loved it.

Next it will be finding a buried map in an antique bottle, following the map and digging up a treasure chest full of jewels, New Orleans bead necklaces, and other stuff. I did this with cub scouts in the past and 20 years later they are still talking about it.
