Hello all! I have been lurking here for about a month and feel it's about time I introduce myself. My 7 y.o. son and I started watching Gold rush Alaska on netflix a while ago and fell in love with the idea of gold mining. We bought some gold pans and tried our hands at that a few times, but no luck so far.

It ultimately led me to this great site which also got me thinking about metal detecting. It's always been something that has interested me but lately it has been all I can think about. I wanted to get a mid-level Tesoro, but my girlfriend kept telling me to wait for my birthday. So I proposed to her the idea that I could buy a Tesoro compadre, use it for now, & then I could give it to her to use when I get another one. Plan worked! :hello2:

Haven't found much of anything so far... lots of soda cans and junk. I plan on doing a lot more when this heat wave ends. I really want to find some old coins, but haven't really come up with any good places to hunt yet in the area.

Maybe some of us locals can get a group together and go out on a hunt!
