I have the same box, too! It was my grandfather's. The only difference is that under the Lane tag on the lid it has "Cordell Furniture, Covington, LA." imprinted on it.

After looking at your photo closer, it looks like it has something imprinted there, too. What does it say?

oddly enough I have the same box too -- but it has Fairfax Furniture -- Fairfax VA on it --- Nice treasure!!!!

I also have the same box except I made mine in shop class back in 1962 LOL!

I gave it to my mother and she passed away in 1968 so I got it back with all her jewelry.

Nice finds there Pete. I've got one of those clay pipes myself. I wonder if there's a way to tell the age of these?

From where I sit it looks like it says Lane, which is one of the natioins foremost makers of cedar chests and other furniture. Looks like it is made of cedar also. Monty
