Fossis took me out to try and do some fossil hunting at a different strip coal mining operation in Oklahoma yesterday. While some mines had thousands of new fossils, this one was pretty bleak. Found a couple, but nothing good. Fossis found a nice rock with some colorful Choco-pyrite on it, but that was the best thing we brought out of there.

See if you can "Find the Fossis" in this pic:

This is a good pic showing the size of part of the mine.

...and another;

He took me to a different area, where these oval shaped nodules had produced good fossils in the past. It was rather grown up, but he did find a nice half of an Aeleopteris fern that he gave to me.

He took me on a side trip to an old Jail in Tamaha, OK., that I think he posted before, but here's a couple pics in case anyone missed it.

A very small jail, maybe 10 feet by 10 feet, built to house prisoners at a steam-boat stop along the Canadian River in the mid-1800's.

Wow, thats HUGE!!!
Looks like you found some keepers. Thanks for the Pics. :)

Yeah, we wanted to get a pic of the giant 'dragline' working, but we weren't supposed to get in that area.
The foreman was very nice, & directed us to the area to hunt.

I should add that we did find a few rocks with some really great fern fossils, but they were so brittle and would just shatter. Too unstable to save any of them. :P

Scotto, I can't find the Fossis in the pic, & I was in it.
I see (in the upper right) what looks like my walking stick, but that's all I can recognize, (if it is). :icon_scratch:

Fossis..............
