Hi :hello:

It was a beautiful afternoon to be detecting -sunny with a slight breeze.

There was a cut at the top of the slope , but I opted for the rocks again.

Not too many targets today, but did manage 3 silver coins.

Here's some pics

Thank you for looking ...again

Here is a pic of the STQ after some soaking in olive oil for gentle cleansing.

I can see a bit more detail :( OBVERSE) "IN GOD" , some vertical stars on either side of Liberty, the outline fo the wall that she is standing against.

(REVERSE) the 3 stars at the base of the eagle and more lettering at top and center above the eagle..difficult to see in the pic, but in hand it is visible

Thanks for looking

Nice silvers Lorraine....the SLQ looks better
after the olive oil soak. Don't think you will
get it much better. Gold Nuggets :hello:

Thanks, GN..'tis sad but true..this is the end of the story for this coin...here's one more pic in my attempt to see the 1929 date clearer...easier to see with coin in hand and using a Volk Pan Retinal 2.2 lens ( my optometrist suggested it for higher magnification...he uses it to check patient's retinas.

At every 6 months eye check up appt. the optometrist spends about 5 minutes asking about my finds..sometimes I bring some in for him to view..he's an avid relic collector.

Here's the pic

Thanks, Ray.

It depends on what metal detector you are using; I can only tell you that with the GT that I use, I most always get a nice high tone on silver, but sometimes it's more mid-tone-high( I think it has to do with the amount of tarnish on the item).
I take careful note of the quality of the tone as well as the pitch..if the tone is focused and solid within the coil proper it's usually a good target...as opposed to an extended crackling tone for which I dig a junk item.
A friend once told me as we were discussing various tones "If it sound like a Kazoo, it probably is a Kazoo"...and he's so correct on that :laughing7:

I 'm sure other more advanced super detectorists on this forum could advise you in more depth than can I. But I hope what I have written will be of help to you.

Lorraine

That's where i'm lacking Lorraine... all l have is a Radio Shack detector I got from my dad and a cen-tech pinpointer. I'm hearing the diff tones made and can pretty well tell coins from can tops... I have trouble with filtering out aluminum tho, its a good high tone every time. I know thats where the money comes in.
I haven't spent much, not much to spend, plus I wanna see how hooked I get, the detector was a gift and 18 bucks for the pinpointer and a 8 dollar digger from wallyworld lol bent it a few times but still digs a decent hole. I've found newer coins, a ring, a earring (fake diamonds lol). no luck on anything like silver or gold, the diamond ring and earring i found had my heart racing at first glance :BangHead:
Can't find the loot, I guess keep diggin' :laughing7:
