Well, the news story about the story is true, did Utah see a spike in treasure hunters back in 2005 over this claimed story "Yes' we did. Whats funny is there hasn't been anything further reported about it. Utah has so many stories like this its not funny.
I've yet to hear of anyone finding anything.
But then if you found 280 gold bars now that gold is a currency in Utah? Hmmmmmmm!
Lol

Fake news is even in Utah. Why would you tell people what you found without taking at least a souvenir? or something to show you were not a liar? And if you had the wherewithal to count it then why not take one home with you?

Why are you bringing up a fourteen year old story? Especially when you are adding nothing.

Time for more coffee.

For stories like this, you have to study the meaning of the claimant's word : "Found". And even "seen".

These words "found" (past tense) and "seen" (past tense) get used in relations to some supposed treasure. But when you go to scrutinize the person, it turns out that what they MEAN is: They've narrowed down the location to a certain canyon, cave, lake bottom, etc... Now it's merely a matter of overcoming government obstacles, getting a detector that goes 6 meters deep, or bringing in heavy equipment, etc.... But rest assured: They've "found" (past tense) this treasure.

Same for "seen". You scrutinize them, and what they *mean* is: They've "seen" the canyon where they are certain this fabled treasure lies. Or Seen the lake, or cave, etc..... Or they know the person who's "seen" it. But you scrutinize to meet that person who "saw" it. And .... lo & behold, they didn't actually see it. But not to worry, because they know the person who "saw" it. So you track down THAT person. And guess what ? They too didn't personally see it. But not to worry, because they got it on good authority from so & so. And so on back to infinity. But in each telling of the story, it's always first person singular.

It's an old story and probably nothing to it. Maybe the guy just wanted attention and it got out of hand.
