I found this 1974 two headed penny a few years ago. I was told it was a novelty penny that were quite popular in the seventies. I brought it to work and put it under a microscope and I couldnt find any tool marks so I let a co worker look at it and he couldn't find anything either. Because I was told it is totally impossible for this to happen at the mint I'll accept that it is what it is....a novelty that someone put alot of work into. Still a cool piece so I will keep it with my other finds.

Re: Two Headed Penney

Here are some of my other finds. I have little knowledge about coins but I think its time to learn. Maybe there is something in this cigar box that deserves more respect.

I agree, its the first coin I saw!
I agree. Capped bust half is a great coin. Looks like you have some other goodies in there as well.

OH YEAH ~ dude! Put that thing in a 2x2 holder or something! Don't let it get mixed around with all those other coins! Keep it from going down in grade.

Just from the looks of it the little coins looks like a 1909 Silver 5 Centavos coin? I may be totally off base here though...

When I get a spare minute I will take my collection out and tell you what that one is....All are good guesses. I do know that I have a old canadian small silver coin that I found on a lake shore 1850s or 60s. Ive also seen a couple in the box that does say centros or something like that. By the way since my first posting of the two headed penny, Ive now taken one of my cigar box of coins and put them in individual coin protectors and inserted them in to coin holder pages which I then put in a note book. Came out awesome and looks so cool displayed properly. I have one more cigar box of coins left to do but I have to pick up some more protectors. I might be in the first stages of getting the coin collecting bug. I still have to buy a good price guide and figure out what is what.
