Wow, a two hour torture hunt. :BangHead: 18* when I got into the water...very refreshing.

Only took about 5 minutes to realize the left boot on my waders were leaking, but that's OK because about 10 minutes later the right boot was leaking too. Might as well have a symmetrical leak if you're going to have any at all.

I'm going along picking up a few targets when I know the waders aren't the only thing leaking. The left gauntlet is taking on water, but that's alright, I have a spare pair in my basement, 25 miles away, ( you idiot ).

Not to self: " Hot Hands do not work when submerged in H2O".

So, now it's a matter of how much torture I can take. The worst thing that happened, ( just kidding ) was that I found the 10K, 1.96g wedding band early in the hunt, now I want to stay, even if it does mean losing limbs. Well after two hours I couldn't take it anymore and headed to the truck.

My new waders are on backorder and will take 2-3 weeks to arrive. I will fill these up with water, see if I can find the leak and make the repair for tomorrows hunt.

Looking at the pics you can tell I was using the DFPI, the ring was a whisper and I don't know if the Excal would have picked it up, than again, maybe it would have.

I almost forgot to mention, my neoprene top was frozen by the time I got back to the truck. To long a walk from the waters edge to the truck at this spot, and walking in the snow wasn't a treat either. Oh yeah, this was a fun hunt.

That's just craziness. What was the water temp up there? Were you wading in the ocean or a lake?

Congrats on the ring....

My smallest gold ring that I have found with my excal was .06 of a gram buried about 8" inches deep...

Nice stuff, but be careful out there. Cold plus wet can equal hypothermia pretty darn quick.

If you get caught in a pinch make sure it's fully clean and dry then cover the hole with shoe goo usually sold in Walmart in the sneaker section or Home Depot in the epoxy putty area. That will seal it up but give it over night to dry up first and use it out doors, stuff stinks!
Used to use it to fix my duck hunting waiters.
Good luck!

Thanks, I use it all the time with excellent results. Very important to clean and SCUFF the area first. I've used both "Shoe Goo" and "GOOP" with the same results. Personally I think they're the same. :laughing7:
