and coins. Is that the way to go for the newer models? I'm new at this coin stuff and aren't sure what good prices are. I've been buying older models off a internet based site, ie: morgans, peace, halfs, quarters and whatnot. I've pretty much stuck to the silver ones mainly because I don't like clad.

Slabbing is when a coin is sent to a third party grading (TPG) service, and the coin is graded and put in a sealed plastic slab. As far as collecting coins, I would say find a reputable coin dealer and talk to them to get some suggestions. Again, I say reputable. Some out there will just tell you what you want to hear so they can sell you something.

Proofs are specially made coins, made from specially prepared dies. They are as close to perfect as you'll ever see, with bright mirrored sufaces. Mint sets are made from regular dies and sealed up before they leave the mint, as good as you can get for a regular run coin.

Thats the short version, hope it helps!
