Two scraped yards hunted twice by two different M.D'est, then me.

Well today I was driving around looking for a dug up yard and found one. I knocked on the door introduced myself and my hobby and got the go ahead. Only to be told that it was already hunted by two other M.D'est. That was discouraging news the yard was small so I did not expect to find anything after two others had been there. Well I got a good solid signal dug down and out came the Merc 1916 No D ( Schuss) well I was happy anyway this was missed. Then I got another signal and out came this aluminum token from Ogden,Utah I was amazed how good of condition it was in. Then another signal a 1917s buffalo nickle. Well did not find anything else after that. Well up the street was another dug up yard got permission but only to be told two others had been there Only found one thing an Ogden High school Token WOW I was happy with that one after all I graduated from that school. This goes to show that this stuff was missed by someone swinging too fast. It pays to slow down. Picture of O.H.S( link below)

Great finds. You must have had a better detectors than those other 2 people. When you say "dug up yard" do you mean a lot that was dug up for building a house or something like that? Would love to know. Thanks.

nice hunt..is there a D under the cent on the back of the Buffalo? if so my coin values mag has it booked at 27.00 in g-4 (good) condition,but if you can clean it an get it to have the nickel color it will grade higher then g-4 in my opinion

Hello Miss Liz,
When a yard is dug up or scraped it means that it is getting a fresh makeover which is new sod or something else.

It was located down on 15th just above washington. If you get a chance drive down in that area I noticed alot of run down yards that have not been maintained it's an old part of Ogden.

I was down that way a couple weeks ago. Detected a friends house built in the 1940's. Allot of junk in the yard. Only managed three wheat cents.

Good looking finds! And I'd be willing to bet there's still more there. Might not be alot, but I ALWAYS go into a place assuming it's not emptied out. No matter what detector, what pace, or what conditions, something is still going to be missed. I had several places like this and would've sworn that NO ONE had ever been there.
