Hello Everyone,

Yesterday afternoon I went to my favorite old park hoping to find some old coins before the snow storm hit. The ground was tough to dig in places, so I worked the sunny edge near the woods; it’s there where I found the two (1920 & 1926) Mercury dimes. The hunt also consisted of some modern clad coins (dimes & copper cents) can-slaw and bits of foil. I was using the Minelab Explorer SE with the Sun Ray 5” coil in all metal mode. It appears tonight and tomorrow we are going to get slammed in Massachusetts, near Cape Cod. No detecting tomorrow, but lots of fun with the snow blower!

Thank you for looking.

GL & HH

Nicely done! I love finding Mercs ( especially older ones).
I'm heading into the woods tomorrow before the next round of snow. I'm hoping the ground will be diggable....
HH and Keep at it!

Good job, Prof!

But, hey! You have an idea there! Tie your detector onto the back of the snow blower and detect as ya go! :tongue3:

That's the way to do it Professor! I almost always run my EX2 wide open in Ferrous mode,I absolutely LOVE that machine! While I do have the CTX the EX2 is a different animal, and I haven't gotten complete control of it yet. Actually,I don't have control over either of them, but I know that there is a DISTINCT difference in the high pitch when it hits silver in the 7-8" range with the X-12 or X-8. My X-5 doesn't get much use but I definitely need it for those really terrible places, all those coils are a dream to use! Great to see the Minelabs pulling more silver oldies, spring can't come soon enough! Congrats!

Hello IDXMonster,

Thanks for the reply! I use the X-8 on my Minelab Quattro an absolute killer combination for coin and Gold jewelry (machine hits hard on mid-tones) hunting.

Regards,

Doc

Great recoveries on the Mercs! I've got the snow blower gassed up and ready to go. But first I'll be heading out with the AT Pro before the snow hits.

Nice finds Doc! I live on the Cape and hopefully am prepared for this monster of a storm. No digging for a little while I guess. Safe travels!

WTG Professor, love those Mercurys.
It looks like the weather is going to restrict my metal detecting for at least another week.
