day two (yesterday). another pile of iron--most give a growling tone so I know what it is when I dig, I just can't resist; what I think is a piece of brass; some more copper nails that give a solid low signal; two lead weights; one quarter, two dimes, two nickels, some copper pennies, and a few zinc pennies. the shell is from Monday's haul. back at it today!!

Duncan, you did better than I did on the south end today !!
one dime, four pennies, 3 pull tabs, one bottle cap, junk stud ear ring and a sun burn !!!
If the weather holds out in the morning I'm going to try up around the light house
maybe run into you there !!!

Hit the surf for 3 hours today and wore me out with little to show for it. great experience though. surprisingly very few target hits. super clean bottom.

image.jpeg

went to the main pier, just to the north side, at about 9:30 this evening, to hit the tide pools. second target was the earring!! only silver and probably czs but I'll take it as it's my first jewelry with the new excal. only had an hour to kill and the tide filled the pool in about 20 minutes so had a good quick run there.

If you're going to Hilton Head to metal detect be aware ... you think Tybee is clean .... I hate going there but do on occasion.
you'll go 45 minutes and up without a beep .!! pocket change is almost none. but good luck.
If I don't do any better today north around the light house I may not go again until the tide comes back around in the early morning.
time will tell !!
good luck !!

Three hours got one quarter, one dime and two pennies. Took off for lunch and a bit of sightseeing then back at it for two hours. Most everything else came up in the last hour. I was in the zone and hated to leave. Dug most of the coins at 6-8 inches. Junk ring and unique charm. Website on charm not functioning. Really enjoyed my time on Hilton Head.

Spent yesterday morning testing my excal in disc vs pinpoint. gridded an area and ran in in disc. then in pinpoint. pinpoint found the items below 8-12" and disc never saw them.

image.jpeg

Then spent the afternoon in the surf testing my recovery skills. pretty good and had a great time.

extended the vaca one day to hit Hilton head again and it paid off. Artcarved Tungsten Carbide wedding band, 1964 nickel, 1966 dime. Dug a quarter at 18 in the dry sand. Belly button junk and a charm or similar with Islam star and moon. don't know if it's silver but will have it tested.

ATpro-Don, I don't see any prohibitions on md'ing. Presto, it's not dis-allowed. UNLESS someone wishes to do it while nude. Durnit, I was planning on md'ing in the nude there ! :occasion14:

I'll bet that if you asked 5 other "guys with badges", that you'd eventually find someone to decide "no". Because perhaps he thinks it runs afoul of lost & found laws. Or disturbing sand crabs. Or harvest/remove clauses. Or cultural heritage, etc...

Moral of the story ? = don't ask guys with badges silly questions ! :)

I kinda chuckled when I saw they had "kegs" and "nudity" right beside each other as if those go hand in hand! Lol. DUHH

I could just see ranger Jeff and ranger Mutt making up these rules/ signs. " Oh yea and no more of then there kegs allowed! I swear every time we let those dad burn things in people start running around all naked".

I've never been to Tybee island and I live in GA. Are the no-see-umms bad there? I have been around that area and they were so bad you had to hotbox a cigarette just to survive them. Off seemed to just give them a buzz.
