Ugly Plant, Beautiful Bloom

Like the title says this is the ugliest plant I have but the bloom is the most beautiful.

Wow that is a pretty blossom. We had drizzly rain all day yesterday, but this morning is bright and sunny. I was thinking on going out in the field to photo some of the flowers that blossom on a sunny day after rain. Heck even the weeds show some beauty at times.

It's an Orchid cactus and that is just how it looks. I took the above pictures with a Nikon P900 in macro mode without any filters. The following shots were taken with my Samsung S6 cell phone camera. The only editing I did was to crop the pictures to focus on the bloom.

I don't generally care about post processing but was curious as I thought it would make a good subject to paint.
