Well Christmas 2023 has come and gone. I have 3 daughters and they always come through with something unique and unexpected from me. I got a pocket Geiger Counter. I never ever thought they made such a thing. I tried it out this morning. First on an old clock with radium chapters and hands. It didn't seem all that radioactive. Then I scanned this old 1930 Hamilton wristwatch. It, according to the device it was pretty hot and rapidly clicking along with a constant red light flashing and loud beeping sound. The other thing I received was a stocking cap with an LED light. Pretty nifty it is and great to take a walk at night. Hopefully all went well for most of you this Christmas and better things are ahead in the coming New Year.

Pretty cool, TR. I would never have thought of either one of those! One of those pocket geiger counters would come in pretty handy when I'm out around Moab.

Yeah after the first I'm taking it over to our place in Nucla where there are scores of Uranium mines. There's radioactive rocks all over the Rockies to the Plateau of Colorado and beyond. Some time ago I ran into some exploration drillers out west of Hartzel in south park. They told me there's good Uranium deposits where they were drilling. The price of Uranium is hitting levels not seen in awhile now. Several operations have geared up now.

All that's starting to bring more business our way. This might be the 4th uptick in Uranium prices in my almost 40 years of peddling to the mines. It's a boom and bust industry with Uranium, so hopefully it'll keep me engaged till I hang it up. It's great business and mined primarily with the handheld jacklegs, which is great, because we're sitting on a lot of product, left over from the Ouray Silver debacle along with a couple other smaller narrow vain operations that attempted to make a go at it, but instead called it quits.
