1. You can't underwater metal detect for Spanish coins, etc. in leased waters, but can you underwater metal detect for rings that people lose in leased waters?

2. Can you underwater metal detect for Spanish treasure outside of leased waters?

3. If you look at the part that is defined as the Treasure Coast, how much of that is leased?

4. On another thread I think somebody posted that you can't recover artifacts older than 50 years from the water that is within 3 miles of the Eastern coast. Does this mean that if you are beyond 3 miles you can legally recover artifacts older than 50 years?

1. = No
2. = No
3. There are maps with co-ord's available online.
4. This is a debated and sticky subject... 100% chance if you find anything substantial... someone will attempt to lay claim.
Past 50 miles out you would be in international waters... where international laws will apply.

Thank you for answering point by point. This doesn't occur to most people. This is the easiest way to ask and answer uestions clearly.

I wasn't hoping for these answers but it is what it is. It's better I know now rather than later.

Regarding #4 how are defining substantial? A shipwreck? A few Spanish coins?

As one can imagine... IF you found "a few Spanish coins" 50 miles out... this would pretty much mean what ?... A shipwreck.
Wellll unless some poor sob was hanging around drunk on deck tossing coins and ooops.
OR...
Same or similar poor sob was trying to "air mail" some coins from one ship to his buddies ship and missed.
OR...
Went swimming and forgot his buckskin wallet was still in his skivvies.
OR....
:)
