Nice Jamey. That is what we have been talking about, They made them from all time frames but they are easily associated with early early sites. They very would all could be described as a flake driven of a worked spall or core. It is doubtful the flaking was done in its present form unless it is a small amount of secondary work along the edge. Nice collection.

I'm not sure if this piece belongs here. But here goes.. this one has interested me since I found it. Like stated above each of these flakes appear to have been done while the piece was still connected to the core. There is a large cone of percussion on the back side. that is the only evidence of a strike after it was separated from the core. Probably just reducing a larger piece into a pre form but it's the only one I have like that

Gator, hi have a few that nearly twin your piece. I have always thought they were cores. The bottom of mine are totally smooth, but have no bulb, indicating that they were knocked off of a larger piece. I'll send you pics in a few.

Thanks for helping. Seems my definition of core has been off a bit. I thought the core was discarded, or what was left of a blank.

Nice video TN! I never have been interested in making a point in my life. That is, until now. I think I'll try to whack one out of a chunk of chert tomorrow. If I have any luck, I'll post my finished product.

Just do not do it barefoot. I tried to learn it once. What very little I learned did help me identify what I was seeing in the field.

Lol! My fits thought was safety glasses. I bet, on a serious note, lots of native Americans had missing or damaged eyes. A flake of chert could ruin an eye. I remember you said you had chert in your foot. Ooouch! Did you ever have it removed?

Cause you stay on a smart phone. Slow down and fire up the lap top 8-)

It works on my iPhone! Then again, you can't bear the real deal. Only playing with you Gator. Droids normally play videos that apple products will not.

Not yet. It will take a day surgery. I hate surgery.
