Over the weekend my dad went out for some garage sales and this was one of the items he found. He’s not too sure of what the application but we both agree on something aquatic.

I’ve found Hamilton USN model 22 deck chronometers before and this isn’t any near as complex but one bit of info found suggested a submarine clock?

It’s set in a gimbal mount with a heavy red brass housing and a silver plated trim ring set with heavy glass. The crown has been wound so much that is worn through on both sides of the case and crown.

Has anybody seen these before? Was there a specific application these were used for in the military? There are no model markings on the back plate, just a serial number which dates it to early 1910-12

He pulls some amazing stuff from sales and often its later in the afternoon when he's coming back from a motorcycle ride. That clock was found around noon when he stopped off for a burger near his house and saw a sign near the parking lot.

His scores aren't as frequent as mine but they are usually in the $1-5 range and beyond outrageous to the tune of "i'm selling off my complete shop of modern, less then 5 year old woodworking power tools. Anything you want is $5 each and that includes the tablesaw, jointer, planers, sanders and anything else you find"

That's a fairly common find for him, or at least in that range.
