I like to think that I'm pretty good at bullet ID's. I'm a little stumped on this one. I found this in an area near a reconstruction era camp and near where Confederates trained during the WBTS.

Perhaps a carbine bullet:

It appears to be about .50 in actual diameter. However, I'm having to guess with a ruler! It was deep and has a lot of patina so I don't think it is modern.

Edited to add that it has a solid base.

Most of my .50 cal bullets I fire now look some thing like that with the lube rings on them.
One of mine,forget the name,come in the yellow box,are pre lubbed with the yellow bore butter.
