"update" finally some good weather, 6.5 hours in lake erie

the weather finally let me get in the lake today. theweatherman said the lake was only 50 degrees farenheight. more like at least 65 degrees, I did not put on my wetsuit just a diveskin to avoid sunburn and scrapes, no hood either. it was terrific. found another watch, some really serious sinker like a mushroom anchor for mice, 2 folding knives,2 railroad spikes, more barbed wire fence,2 stainless steel nuts tied together, some nails, some large whatzits that need cleaning,a few pices of a cooking grate(iron),a turnbuckle,2 lbs of sinkers,a large cotter pin,2 brass pieces, one is modern looks like it capped off a tube with an o ring, the other is old and has a threaded tapered hole with another hole for a set screw. never seen anything like it. and finally a metal arrowhead medallion, has a c inside a circle (probably copy right) and royal on the backside. I hope evryone had as much fun as I did today.

Great hunt, with some interesting finds. The top bit looks a bit like a rusty chicken drumstick! LOL, Nuggy

yep and super heavy too nuggy, I thought lead at first, made the jw fishers pulse 8 scream.

I think the mushroom anchor is for finding lost line (or reel), cool find.

Me too...

Interesting the stuff you find on the lake bottom :o Looks like some fun :P
Any of these "eyeball" finds?
Also curious how deep do you typically go detecting underwater?

Re: "update" finally some good weather, 6.5 hours in lake erie

4'- 6' most of the time, doing beach dives in shallow water. sometimes I use my inflateable and 20'- 40'. I have a 4' coil for my jw fishers pulse 8 that I drag behind the boat. the drumstick was heavily encrusted and probably underwater 230 years or so. this the most fun I ever had with my clothes on.
