It would help if you tell us what type of detecting you have in mind - coin shooting in trash - covering ground in fairly trash free areas or?

What machine do you prefer? I would advise to only use 1 machine , whites and minelab are two different animals you are hobbling your ability to learn what your machines capability are ,

Dux, I primarily hunt for coins.

Shawn, I am quite comfortable with each machine.

I have heard some people say that the addition of a DD coil 'transforms' their machine, or that a certain coil should have been shipped as standard on a detector since it works so well.

I see that Whites is selling the D2 on the MXT pro now.

One issue I have with the Minelab is taht it is not waterproof, but it is cheaper.

Looking for a user that has been thrilled with the upgrade that can sway my decision.

I am interested in your preference to teh 9.5 on the DFX. What makes you prefer it?

Minelab's 7.5kHz DD coil is advertised as:
Water resistant: May be splashed, washed, used in drizzling rain, or moved through wet grass
Not submersible under water
This may be the deciding factor for me. I live in the Pacific Northwest. Water is everywhere.

I didn't notice significant depth increase, a lil harder to swing in the woods, this was the old style 12x8 or 6 elliptical coil , harder for me to pinpoint. And it probably just boils down to confidence in the original setup! I never really gave it more than 3 or 4 hunts
