Re: US Soldiers's Dog Tags, WW II at Pacific Theatre

Should see if anyone knows of a site to go to where you can find info about the soldier, and his/her family.
Might be very nice to get this back to the family it once belonged to.......

Re: US Soldiers's Dog Tags, WW II at Pacific Theatre

Magnificent job, Bramblefind.......now tell me, how/where did you look?
I hunt in S. Korea. Haven't found anything close to what this guy did, but
have found all sorts of shot and shell......and felt like that it would be just a
matter of time.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: US Soldiers's Dog Tags, WW II at Pacific Theatre

I might be paranoid but you probably want to block out the social security numbers.

The SS #'s are accessible to the public once they are entered into the Death Index -

Here is a link if you want to try it out-

http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi

Hikeinmts- I used ancestry.com and also the National Archives database for enlistment records 1938-1946-
