Cru'Dad had a US visitor who wanted to hunt with us for a day. The timing was a little off, as all our best options had been done already. So we started the morning on a virgin field that looked quite good & had a couple of points of interest - near the site of an old mill, on a hill with a pond on the high ground. It turned out to be a bust! We then tried the field next to the Roman Lion Site, but we had hammered that one, so another bust; Other than a quick hunt by me on the ankle breaker Lion Site - 1 Roman Coin.
After lunch we moved to the only other Roman Site we know of that was detectable. Thankfully we did much better here. I had 12 coins, Cru'Dad 5, & our visitor 2, although he had first blood. Glad he found something, as it was a tough near 6 hour hunt.

18 Roman Coins
Crotal Bell
1st C AD Hod Hill Brooch
14th C Medieval Buckle
Broken Tudor Clothes Fastener
Bits...

Thank you for being kind to the "Foreigner". Britain really is a marvelous land. I always appreciate your scans of the Roman era finds. That period of history is one of my main historical eras of interest. I have collected Roman coins for several years.
You and your Father must have quite a nice collection by now. Plus 24 Banner finds to your credit !!

We tried our best, I wouldn't change any of today's decisions. We got the best out of a bad bunch.

that seems to be the norm, you take someone out to do something and you end up struggling but, you made a great effort and he will always remember it. glad that he did finally find something.

It's sometimes hard to put somebody onto good digging dirt after one has detected the heck out of it. Still a good day out and a few nice finds are found.
Math skills suck though Cru.:laughing7:

That was nice of you to take him hunting and so glad that the last place you took him to was not a bust.

Read again;
''Other than a quick hunt by me on the ankle breaker Lion Site - 1 Roman Coin''
So its a 20 day total with the visitors. The morning started with 1 to me, then the last field of the day had the 12 + 5 + 2.
