Thanks Don. It's heavier than the norm. It's got writing on the back, but hard to make out. XVDV? Possibly an upside down Y after those letters? Take a look.

These were kids badges from the 30s and 40s. Some were marked American Aviator as well. You can type in Aviator badge in the tent search bar and see similar examples.
