"V" Nickel, Standing Liberty Quarter, Gold Ring

Had to work and haven't had time to hunt for a three day stretch - which is waaay too long for this cat. I busted out the detector, put in a fresh set of batteries and did a quick check online for some spots using some old aerial maps (that I got from a link on this wonderful site) and headed out.

Been having some good luck hitting the boulevards so I started there. within 10 minutes I had the Standing Liberty quarter. It's worn down and no date can be seen but it's silver so I'll take that anytime. After this it was a couple wheats and then some relics. Nabbed a 1896 "V" nickel and then a few rings. On silver without the stone, another older costume one I think and then the 1950's looking one with "10K" on it. (also missing the stone) I came home with some cool goodies and felt much better. Even got some old toys too (Hot Wheels Deora and a cap gun)

HH to all out there and thanks for checking out my post.

: )

Some terrific pictures there.

Clean that 1896 V nickel carefully. I think you've got a pretty good coin in what may be better condition: VF or about.

Love that silvered locket: wouldn't be surprised if it was hand-made!

Now I gotta look at the new pics too.

Looks like checking out the maps helped a lot. Also looks like you've gotten some Oriental memorabilia, too. The compact cover looks like bamboo. Can't tell you much about the square-holed coin, but I bet someone here will recognize it.

The last digit in the SLQ looks to me like either an 8 or 9. I'm more inclined to 9 right now. May well be a 1919.

And all those RINGS to boot?!?!

WTG!

Very awesome variety of nice finds there! Standing liberty quarters are a tough coin to find. Well done!

I remember that Hot Wheels car. It's from about 1968, that's the first year they were introduced. These cars in mint condition are worth quite a bit of $. :occasion14:

I couldn't resist! This is what your Hot Wheels car looked like about 43 years ago! Surf boards and all!

I wonder if the Fire King token/medal has anything to do with the Glass Co.? Very nice assortment of finds and beautiful pics. That's what an old dug nickel is supposed to look like as opposed to some I have seen posted on this site. Good job!

Your ring with the arrow on the side looks like one that Bigcypresshunter may have just sold, except his mayst have had a an emerald cut stone. Just for curiosity, does it have a number on the inside that may be a model number? We had an interesting discussion about that just a while back.
