Why do people throw their safes in rivers? Who does that? This isn't the first I've seen. The whole thing seems really bizarre.

It was probably a thief of some sort..they grabbed the easy stuff and then tossed the whole thing into the river. If it wasn't for those guys and their magnets it'd still be sitting on the muddy bottom for a long time to come.

Obviously Stolen. In this Case Either Wasn't Opened or
stolen by someone who feared being unable to get rid of them quickly. perhaps there was hard cash or gold that distracted them when they stole it & The coins were of No Consequence.

In the case of the Princes Safe they found there before,
They Got in & Took the Valuables

Ok, that makes sense. But finding even one safe with a magnet at the bottom of a river seems like it would be a very rare occurrence. These guys must put a lot of hours in to this.

An Australian treasure hunter has found 50 safes, handguns, bullets, a BMW motorbike, thousands of bicycles, jewellery and the odd gold coin while travelling across the world for more than 15 years.

I believe most of the safes Come out of Amsterdam Canals
