Slip casting is way of mass-producing pottery by pouring liquid clay (known as 'slip') into a plaster mould such that the plaster absorbs much of the water and allows a layer of clay to retain the shape of the mould. It's a particularly efficient way of making pottery in complex shapes or with intricate detail.
