My last six metal detecting outings were unremarkable, yielding only modern clad, junk earrings, and lots of frustration. This morning I went for a cup of coffee at the supermarket after dropping my honey off at work, and ran my hand along the bottom of the Coinstar reject tray as I always do. I felt a few coins and scooped them into my hand.

As I looked at the coins in my hand I could swear I heard the Angels sing! I must have unconsciously done a happy dance or let out a gasp, because the Customer Service guy at the desk next to the Coinstar, asked me if I was OK. I assured him I was fine, pocketed the coins and was so excited I forgot to get the coffee!

At this rate, I may sell my detectors and start "Coinstar-ing" full time! :laughing7::headbang::skullflag:

What a nice coin spill, congrats. About a year ago I found a nice amount at the coinstar too. Sometimes it does pay to check, good luck.

Makes you want to go apply for a job at anywhere that has a coinstar machine that you can watch all day from said job detail. heh

Better yet, why not work for coinstar and really clean up. Can you imagine all the loot you could get from the reject tray/dirt box.

I think we need a CoinStar banner category! Nice score! :icon_thumright: Makes you wonder what actually went through and was accepted by the machine.

Hi thrifty76now, The close up of the 1/10 oz. Silver Bullion Coin shows that it is not a Real Walking Liberty half but a bullion coin or 'token' so to speak. Made of fine silver just not a real U.S. currency coin. Also, it seems to be about the diameter of the silver 1964 quarter otherwise there would be a higher quantity of silver. I would think that whoever ran those coins through the coinstar machine knew nothing about coins or the color of silver coins or Shine of Proof coins. The OLD silver coins & especially the Proof Bullion Coin being there raises a red flag in my mind about this particular coin dump into a Coinstar machine...……….63bkpkr
