The picture with 3 buttons & 2 scrappies was a short scout by Cru'Dad the other day. That 'hunted out' site was off the books for now & we decided to finish the new Roman Site where Dad got his nice Fibula. It only took us until lunchtime to finish the site with just another 4 scrappies.
After lunch I decided we should do the 2 fields next to the Roman Lion Site. 1 Field was blank but the other one has a good wide scatter of Roman Coins, so we decided to grid this one. Now called 'The Roman Lion's Neighbour'.

7.5 hour hunting day;

22 Roman Bronze Coins
1 Roman Silver of Sev Alex AD224 (Very debased)
Will III Love Token (Sixpence)
Lizzy Halfgroat (Hammered)
Roman Lead Steelyard Weight
Crotal Bell
Charles I Coin Weight
Big 14th C Buckle (Largest of this type)
Roman Amphora Strap-end
Cru'Dad dug up what we expected to be deep junk! - 1st C BC-1st C AD Iron Age (Celtic) Horse Harness Mount. Checked the databases & web, not all my books yet, but it looks to be a VERY RARE example (at least), can't find a match yet.:headbang:
UPDATE;
After further research, & you know how I use the word 'Unique' sparingly, I'm upgrading the Mount to EXTREMELY RARE.

WOW, that is a gorgeous door knob, and the condition is superb!

Ok, but seriously, your finds are yet again really great. The coins are nice, but that harness mount is something else! Congrats on another rare and beautiful relic.

Maybe a one of a kind piece of ancient history!
The books will now need to add your discovery to the records, another piece of the puzzle that we call history!

Awesome find.

I am green with envy.

About how deep were the items?

They are all in plough soil, most not more than 3 inches deep. But the Mount was 8-10 inches.

Wow-you and your dad outdid yourselves. That's a great bunch of finds even for the two of you (and that's saying a lot). Congratulations to Cru Dad for finding the rare piece
