This was a heart stopper detecting in fields marched on by Sherman.
I have no idea on the age, but a wild guess makes me think early 1900's.
Headed over the hill to see what new relics were waiting for me this morning.
I got an early start to beat the heat. It didn't take long to get hot and uncomfortable.
I found 2 really cool pipe stems on the fringes of my recently plowed field.

Nice finds Mike!!! That button from the early 1800s? Looks good. Those dairy tags like yours were used extensively in the 1940s and 50s based upon my hunting on dairy farms with relics and knowing the operations and farmers. I fooled Dman at a Morgan CSA cav. camp. He was about 25 ft. from me when I dug an oval cow tag without the chain. He asked me what I found and I just held it in my hand. He saw the oval shape but couldn't see the letters and got excited. We have found several of those and they could cause a heart attack. HH, Quindy.

Nice recoveries Mikey. :icon_thumleft:
Are you sure that chain & tag is dairy cow related?
I think I saw that same setup on an old rap star named "Papa Cap". :icon_scratch: ;D
Nice job. You are a diehard in this heat!

It was a nice hunt :tongue3:. This old cow tag would have made my day too. BTW, found something very similar, also with '1' and oval but not holed and there is a small 'K.C.' below '1' :dontknow:

Mike: Man when I saw that it was dejavu, grew up on dairy farm in the 50's
Lived to the clock of the cow, time to milk. Hope you find more there, other than the cow tags, we switched to ear tags mid 60's then sold out and moved, was a happy camper then. Had about 60 we milked ,could this be PSTS kickin in for me. Well any way keep looking. :coffee2:Hardrock
