I finally got two hours to hunt today and I decided to hit one of my Colonial hot spots. Twenty minutes in and I a 35 on the Garett. I figured another shotgun primer but it was deep so maybe a tombac. I took our a scoop and It jumped up to 60. It ended up being a VMI cadet cuff button. I turned around and realized I was less than 50 yards from where I dug a USA Continental Army button.

It was a beautiful day and I ended up digging a bunch of shotgun primers. Did find another tombac and a small pewter button.
The backmark I can make out is Robinson and Extra.
Dig it all you don’t know what you will get. Sweet button! You are right about digging it all. Although I don't always do it, many of my better finds have been found like that.
