awesome cellar hole hunt over in Rhode Island with Todd Hiltz,Terry Charest & Paul Charest.the day started off great by eyeballing a $150 pair of Maui Jim sunglasses in the trail hiking up to the site. a real silver bridle shield adornment,a cool cloak clasp,a iron grape shot, a broken brass ship spike? & a gorgeous War of 1812 Naval button.a 1805 draped bust LC on a previous hunt

Wow now that's a hunt! Then to top it off everything cleaned up nicely. That naval button is fabulous and my favorite amongst many great finds.

Congrats

Steve

Nice button! I found the cuff version down here in SC about a month ago, but it wasn't nearly in as good of shape. Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Nice Colonial digs and a sweet button..

The shield is a debatable find as i have never seen one of these on a saddle before...Everyone says they are for a saddle but i have yet to see proof..I believe they were
for a Frock or Cloak to tie them up in the back..Probably the same coat the clasp was from..Were they in the same area? For horse riding, mud, rain etc..Being solid silver even makes me think it more..So please if anyone has a pic of these on a saddle please share....

war of 1812 you say? i was kind a wondering what period that style was, the one i found about 2 years ago is a bit different, the shield is on the other side? flat coat size button, no backmark, worn smooth.
