Back in the 94 Dredge hearings we presented pics with over a ton of rafters garbage, fishermen lead and others junk also. O what a evil web they have woven ever since...kudos on that righteous pic...John

What we have are two very passionate and outspoken user groups using the same streams and rivers. Conflict and misunderstandings are unavoidable. I am biased and think most of the misunderstanding is on the part of the fishermen. I am under the impression that many of us miners if not most are fishermen too.
I was a fisherman and avid saltwater fisheries conservationist long before I was a miner. The fishermen in the NW have been mislead and outright lied to about the consequences of dredging in OUR streams and rivers. It will be interesting to hear what they have to say and possibly the miners in attendance will have a chance offer our opinions on the issues. As more and more of us reach retirement there will be more and more users on the same stretch of stream or river. I am hopeful that a working relationship can be developed among all user groups of the public lands so that we are not all losers in the end.

The truth will set them free Stan. Give them the path and the light. In low water and restricted flow waterways, those dredge holes are critical to fish survival, as well as clean gravel beds. Leave us alone and we and god will fix the fishery, it is only after our removal that mercury levels go up and fish mortality skyrocket... Those are facts, not conjecture, or proposed harm. I used to do a lot of fishing, and I find hilarious when a groups sole purpose is to kill as many fish as the state will allow, cry foul that we are destroying the fishery. Fishermen in Washington killed hundreds of thousands of fish in any given season, in all my years of mining, I have never killed a single fish with a dredge...

Well 6 miners walked in to the lions den and survived. Actually we had a rather civilized exchange of information during the TU meeting and afterwards at the creek. The miners were able to dispel some myths and misinformation that was presented by the TU leadership guys and gals. And the miners also learned a few things ourselves. TU has agreed, informally, to work with miners on some issues of concern. Was it a complete success and resolved all the issues of contention between miners and TU? No, not at all. But it was a start to opening a dialogue between the groups and hope for understanding and cooperation of two user groups of our public lands.

My personal thoughts of the WDFW aren't very good! In 2006 I was attending the NW Miners Rally in Orroville Washington. It was a Dredge Earth First Reunion. at the time I was the membership director . We had a information tent just across the road from the pavillion . one of the speakers was from the WDFW and my friend and I (Leonard L.) decided to go listem to him talk. I was a member of Resources Coalition and the Bed Rock Prospectors at the time.and these clubs had been acting in good faith to help them. the WDFW guy had a real nice lady turning posters for him while he was talking about the pictures. on the last poster of pictures I saw a picture of Leonards dredge (4 inch keene with a broken hasp on it and a craftsmen screw driver stuck into the frame. and low and behold there was a picture of his dredge on this guys poster card............. Leonard and I gasped at the same time when we saw this card.....Leonard asked this guy during the meeting if "he had taken all the pictures himself?" and the man said yes that he had visited and took every picture himself. And while we were still in the front row Leonard said," NO YOU DIDNT! THAT PICTURE YOU HAVE WAS STOLEN/COPIED FROM HIS WEBSTE! well that ended the meeting for that bozzo!and then after years of the bed Rock prospectors , WMPA ,and the Resources Coalitions helping the WDFW they disregarded everything that these hard working miners did for them! so I DONT PUT MUCH FAITH IN ANY OF THESE GUBERMINT BACKSTABBING LIERS! John was that harsh enough ???

We are not at this time attempting to work with the WDFW. Just exploring the possibility of the different user groups coming together to be sure these agencies are working for us and not some lobbyist from some outside special interest group. We would appreciate any and all moral support of our efforts.

That's what these "share holders " were doing! they had a lot of time and money invested in their attempt to get it right the first time! but the WDFW used them! BUT goodluck in your attempt!
