I use the Beach Hunter I.D. myself, it's been a fantastic detector.

Thought I would ask this here with all the experienced detectorists that post on here.

I am looking for a good but reasonably priced detector to use in the water. I don't want to take a chance with getting the electronics wet on my DFX.

Freshwater or Saltwater?

Freshwater is easy, Garrett AT Pro or Tesoro Tiger Shark.

Saltwater is tougher. You'll need a multi-fequency VLF or Pulse Induction machine.

Fresh water, Looking at the prices I may have to wait around and look for a used one. Tossed all my shopping catalogs out when I retired

AT Pro is the way to go if you don't want to spend a bunch. It has also gotten great reviews. My dad just got one last week. See Al at Prostock. I use a Fisher CZ-21 and a 20. You can also get them used for $500 - $600 ish.

I use the Fisher CZ-21, and a CZ-20. The Fisher 1280x is also a great choice. These are all good to 250'. I always question the ones that are good for 10', will they leak at 3'? You can get a nice used 1280 for around $350, and a nice used CZ20 or 21 for around $550+

I'm watching this thread too. I'm starting to look for a 2nd detector and things are leaning towards a water detector. Another one mentioned to me was the Excalibur.

How many of these waterproof detectors can be used for other purposes besides water and beach hunting?
