I found this wax seal at a site that is late 1700's to early 1800s with french and English visiting in early 1800s in Ontario. Seems most view here so I thought I would post it here to try to figure out the character. It is likely Fur tra...de and a king maybe?. Any opinions or help would be appreciated. I'd say it looks like General Lafayette of Revolutionary War fame, a very popular figure among Americans as well as the French.

Definitly a comparison to General Lafayette. Ill take better look tonight. Thanks for the responses. I guess most of these are one of a kind. Ill keep looking regardless in hope of figuring it out .. cheers

1800 would be the middle range of this type, although I think most of these fall into the early 1800s.

Very nice to get these complete stone/glass, thats a bonus.

Its more likely to be the owners image than a famous person.

First AWESOME FIND !
But as IH pointed out these are pretty much "one-of-a-kind" type things, you know to ID the sender of the letter, so It may not be anyone famous, or maybe it IS someone famous, in any case a great find, and still on my top ten list.

A banner find for me, but as CRU's Silver one diddn't make banner I suspect your's will not either, none-the-less a banner find in my book, and if it was my find I'd think it a banner.

Good luck on any pos. ID.

In case Glenn doesn't know what you mean, I attached a link above. It is still one of my Fav finds, although that list is pretty long.

Hard to say whether or not it is General La Fayette or not, uness there's a similar example out there that is known to represent him

I found a tribute piece several years ago, is it the same?

that is one super cool find. congrats!

Beautiful find! It really is exciting to see what someone can find!

Awesome find, great shape too. I bet you couldn't wait to see the impression...

I think the association with Lafayette is pretty good - but it is a guess -( and that's what we have here at best) . Clearly this is a wonderful
find ! I think it's likely that the "glassy " bit is rock crystal (quartz ) this too is a guess - I absolutely defer to the likes of Cru or IP on this
one .
